Gay Clergy

As a supporter of Affirming Catholicism, I fail to see a good reason to not allow gay people (and women, needless to say) into all three areas of the trifold ministry. The Donatist controversy tells us that it is the office of the priest itself, rather than the individual him/herself that is the 'source of holiness'. I'm also not sure why priests can be in a celibate same-gender relationship, but not a non-celibate one. The Bible does not condemn 'loving, faithful and stable' same-gender relationships at all, and I cannot stand the hypocrites who try to defend a homophobic (although the term 'homophobic' needs updating to make it accurate) view by quoting scripture, and ignore Jesus's love of all, not to mention, as Desmond Tutu reminds us, Jesus's acceptance of and love towards those on the outskirts of society.
